Product and audience

Chess Openings by Ajedrez de Silicio is an app from Ajedrez de Silicio E.I.R.L., Peru, intended for people aged 13 and older. It includes opening puzzles organized by theme, three levels, tests, mistake review and local progress. Other products from the company are purchased separately.

Purchase and included content

The paid-download Google Play edition provides the content included in the purchased version, without subscriptions, advertising or in-app purchases. Google Play displays the price and transaction terms before purchase. No online account with us is required.

A purchase does not promise new collections or indefinite updates. Future downloads and compatibility depend on the store and published versions. Involve a responsible adult in purchases by minors where required.

For purchase issues, use Google Play support or gpacheco@ajedrezdesilicio.com. Store refund rules and applicable consumer rights apply; these terms do not limit those rights.

Training and rating

The Elo rating you enter sets your initial Silicio rating, an internal training measure. It is not equivalent to an official FIDE rating and does not provide a validated conversion of ratings from other platforms. We do not guarantee an increase in Elo or competitive results.

Only the first result of each puzzle per user changes your rating: completing it without mistakes adds points; your first mistake or viewing the solution deducts points. Repeating a puzzle does not add, deduct or restore lost points. Solving it correctly after a mistake does improve its learning status.

You choose your level when creating your profile, and it stays the same until you change it in the theme index. Your rating can rise or fall outside the suggested ranges. The timer records active practice time and does not determine points.

The catalog contains 10,453 unique puzzles across fourteen themes: 300 per theme in Intermediate and Advanced, and between 102 and 300 in High Level. These are tactical puzzles from the opening phase, organized by openings and related families. You practice concrete decisions; this is not a repertoire or a course in memorizing variations. Solutions follow the included lines and accept verified alternative immediate checkmates. If you find an error, report the theme, level and puzzle number.
